This simplex single-mode cord carries one fiber between two LC/UPC ports. It's the right fit for BiDi transceivers, single-strand PON links, and patch panels wired one fiber at a time. The G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fiber keeps loss low even when the cord routes through tight enclosures and crowded racks.

A slim 2.0 mm jacket takes up minimal space. The low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) jacket gives off little smoke and no halogen gases if it burns. That makes it suitable for enclosed rooms, offices, and occupied buildings. It's also useful for patching single strands on LC panels.

One Strand Does the Job

Bidirectional (BiDi) optics send and receive on two different wavelengths over a single fiber. That cuts fiber use in half compared to duplex optics. A simplex LC cord is all a BiDi link needs at each end. Many 1G and 10G BiDi SFPs use a single LC port.

Simplex vs. Duplex

Duplex cords carry two fibers joined as a zipcord. Simplex cords carry one. Choose simplex when your gear uses a single port or when you need to patch individual strands on a panel. It's also handy for fixing one fiber in a pair without disturbing the other.

Bend-Insensitive G.657.A1

The fiber is rated for a 10 mm minimum bend radius. That helps inside small wall boxes, splice enclosures, and compact SFP faceplates. It stays fully compatible with standard single-mode cable.

UPC Polish

Both LC connectors use a flat UPC polish with blue housings. This finish works with most single-mode data optics, including BiDi modules. Avoid green APC ports, since mixing polishes causes high loss and can damage end faces.

LSZH Safety

Low-smoke zero-halogen jackets reduce smoke and corrosive gases during a fire. This protects people and nearby electronics. In US plenum spaces, building codes may still require an OFNP rating, so check before you route it there.

Practical Uses

Installers use this cord for BiDi uplinks, single-fiber PON connections, and test setups. It also works for patching single strands between LC panels. Its thin profile keeps busy panels tidy.

Fixing One Fiber at a Time

Sometimes only one strand in a pair goes bad. A simplex cord lets you replace just that leg without touching the working fiber. This keeps the other half of the link stable. It also makes troubleshooting cleaner, since you change one variable at a time.

Care Tips

Clean the LC end faces before each connection. Keep dust caps on spare cords, and label both ends so the strand is easy to trace later.
