This simplex single-mode cord is built for fiber-to-the-home and other single-strand connections. Each end uses an SC/APC connector with an 8-degree angled polish, which keeps reflected light far away from sensitive PON and video lasers. The G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fiber holds up well in tight wall boxes and small termination enclosures. A single 2.0 mm jacket keeps the cord slim and easy to route. The low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) jacket gives off very little smoke and no corrosive halogen gases if it burns. That makes it a good fit for enclosed spaces and occupied rooms. It's a tidy choice for ONT connections in homes, apartments, and small offices.
One Fiber, One Job
Unlike duplex cords, a simplex cord carries a single fiber. That's exactly what most FTTH links need. GPON and XGS-PON systems send downstream and upstream traffic on different wavelengths over one strand. The same goes for many BiDi transceivers.
APC for PON and Video
Passive optical networks and RF video overlays are very sensitive to back reflection. The angled APC end face sends stray light into the cladding. That pushes return loss to 60 dB or better and keeps signals clean. Green connector bodies make APC easy to identify.
Bend-Insensitive G.657.A1
In-home fiber often runs through tight corners, small wall plates, and compact ONT enclosures. G.657.A1 fiber handles a 10 mm minimum bend radius with very little added loss. It also mates with standard single-mode cable in the drop.
LSZH Jacket
Low-smoke zero-halogen jackets burn with minimal smoke and release no halogen acid gases. That protects people and electronics in apartments, offices, and transit spaces. Check local codes, though. In US plenum spaces, an OFNP rating is still required.
Typical Uses
Installers use this cord to link a wall-mounted fiber outlet to an ONT. It also connects splitter outputs in a distribution hub and feeds CATV receivers. Its slim simplex jacket fits neatly behind furniture and inside small boxes.
Never Mix APC and UPC
Keep this cord on APC ports only. Plugging it into a blue UPC adapter causes heavy loss and can scratch the ferrules. Clean both ends before every connection, and replace dust caps right away.
Installer-Friendly Handling
Leave a little slack behind the ONT so the cord doesn't pull on the connector. Coil any extra length loosely inside the wall box or termination enclosure. Avoid stapling or pinching the jacket against furniture. These small habits prevent most service calls after an install. They also keep customers happy for years.
