This single-mode hybrid cord connects SC patch panels and carrier equipment to LC switch ports and long-reach SFP modules. It pairs SC/UPC push-pull connectors on one side with compact LC/UPC connectors on the other. The OS2 fiber is bend-insensitive (G.657.A1), so it keeps loss low in crowded racks and tight cable managers.
A 2.0 mm duplex zipcord carries transmit and receive side by side. Yellow jacketing flags it as single-mode in any mixed rack. An OFNR riser jacket keeps it within code for indoor routes and shafts. It's a go-to cord for linking building backbones to modern switches. Campus and enterprise teams use it daily during switch upgrades.
SC Backbone, LC Switch
Many single-mode backbones were terminated on SC panels, especially in telecom rooms and building entrances. Modern switches use LC-based SFP and SFP+ optics. This cord joins the two directly. You avoid hybrid adapters, which add a mated pair and extra loss to every link.
Long-Reach Optics Ready
OS2 fiber pairs with long-reach transceivers like 1000BASE-LX and 10GBASE-LR. Those optics cover distances up to about 10 kilometers. Even longer reach is possible with ER and ZR modules. A short patch cord like this barely touches the loss budget.
G.657.A1 Bend Tolerance
This fiber is rated for a 10 mm minimum bend radius. Standard single-mode needs far gentler curves. That extra margin helps when cords route through tight vertical managers or the narrow space behind patch panel doors. It also stays fully compatible with regular G.652.D backbone fiber.
Connector Profiles
The SC end has a 2.5 mm ceramic ferrule in a square snap-in body. The LC end has a 1.25 mm ferrule and a latch that suits dense SFP ports. Both use a UPC polish with blue connector bodies, which signals flat-polish single-mode.
Polarity Made Simple
This zipcord uses standard A-to-B polarity. Transmit at one end crosses to receive at the other. If the link stays dark after connecting, swap the two legs at the SC end and check again.
Don't Mix in APC
Keep this cord on UPC ports only. Plugging a blue UPC connector into a green APC adapter causes heavy loss. It can also scratch both end faces, which turns a quick patch into a costly repair.
Ideal Use Cases
This cord fits well between a building entrance panel and the core switch. It also links carrier demarc equipment with SC ports to a router's LC optics. Universities and hospitals with older SC single-mode panels rely on it during switch upgrades. Keeping a few lengths in stock shortens downtime during moves.
Jacket and Care
Its riser rating covers vertical shafts and general indoor areas. Plenum ceilings need an OFNP cord. Clean every end face before mating, and keep the dust caps for spare cords.
