This 3-meter simplex single-mode pigtail joins a factory-polished SC/APC connector to bend-insensitive G.657.A1 fiber. The connector's 8-degree angled end face keeps back reflection extremely low. That makes it the right fit for CATV nodes, RF video overlays, and PON equipment.
A semi-tight 0.9 mm buffer strips 10 cm or more in one pass, which speeds up fusion splicing in rack-mount frames. The yellow buffer marks it as single-mode, and the material carries an OFNR riser rating. The extra length leaves plenty of slack to store in deep splice drawers. It's a dependable choice for headend frames and HFC node enclosures.
How the Angled Polish Works
The SC/APC ferrule is polished at 8 degrees from flat. Light that reflects off the end face hits that angle and bounces out past the fiber's acceptance cone. It escapes into the cladding instead of traveling back toward the laser. That's why APC connectors typically reach 60 dB return loss or better, while flat UPC connectors sit around 50 dB.
Built for Analog and Video Signals
RF video at 1550 nm and other analog systems are far more sensitive to reflections than digital Ethernet. Even small reflections can add noise and distortion to the video signal. Cable TV headends and hybrid fiber-coax nodes standardize on APC for that reason.
Semi-Tight Buffer Speed
The semi-tight buffer leaves a microscopic gap around the 250 µm coated fiber. There's no gel or powder inside, and the gap isn't visible at 100x magnification. One circular cut removes at least 10 cm. That gives you a long, clean section of fiber to strip and cleave.
G.657.A1 Bend Tolerance
ITU-T G.657.A1 allows a 10 mm minimum bend radius. One turn at that radius adds no more than 0.75 dB at 1550 nm. The fiber is fully compliant with G.652.D, so it splices directly onto standard single-mode feeder cable.

Inspect Before You Connect
IEC 61300-3-35 sets the pass/fail criteria for fiber end-face cleanliness. A quick look with an inspection scope catches dust and scratches before they cost you return loss. Use APC-rated cleaners, since the angled face needs a matching cleaning tip.
Why 3 Meters?
The longer length suits rack-mount distribution frames, where fiber must travel from the adapter panel to a splice drawer and back. It also leaves enough slack to cut back and re-splice later if needed.
