This simplex single-mode pigtail carries a factory-polished SC/APC connector with an 8-degree angled end face. It's designed for links where back reflection must stay extremely low. Examples include GPON, XGS-PON, RF video, and CATV overlays.
The bend-insensitive G.657.A1 fiber handles tight routing in splitter trays and FTTH boxes. A 0.9 mm tight buffer gives the strand firm protection, and the material meets the OFNR riser fire rating. Choose a 1 m or 3 m length to match your enclosure. It's a trusted part for FTTH turn-ups, CATV nodes, and PON repairs.
Why the 8-Degree Angle Matters
A flat UPC end face reflects a small amount of light straight back toward the laser. The angled APC polish sends that light into the cladding instead. Return loss typically reaches 60 dB or better, compared with about 50 dB for UPC. Analog video and PON systems at 1490 and 1550 nm rely on that difference.
Green Means APC
APC connectors use green housings, and single-mode UPC connectors use blue. That color code helps prevent mistakes. Mating APC with UPC leaves an air gap between angled and flat faces, which causes heavy loss and can chip both ferrules.
G.657.A1 Bend Tolerance
The fiber supports a 10 mm minimum bend radius per ITU-T G.657.A1. That's essential in splitter cassettes and small customer termination boxes, where space is tight. It splices directly onto G.652.D drop and feeder cable.
Tight Buffer Strength
The 900 µm buffer bonds to the coated fiber for strong kink resistance. That suits enclosures where pigtails get handled during service turn-ups and repairs.
PON Wavelength Plan
GPON sends downstream traffic at 1490 nm and upstream at 1310 nm, while RF video overlays use 1550 nm. XGS-PON adds 1577 nm downstream and 1270 nm upstream. All of these share one fiber, so a single APC strand carries every service to the subscriber.

Cleaning APC End Faces
Angled end faces need careful cleaning. Use a cleaner rated for APC connectors, and inspect with a fiber scope before mating. Even small particles can raise reflections on sensitive video links. Replace the dust cap any time the connector sits unplugged, even for a few minutes. Dust settles quickly in open enclosures.
