Speed on Large Splice Jobs
Twelve splices per cable add up fast on a big project. The semi-tight buffer strips 10 cm or more in a single pass, with no gel to clean. That shaves real time off every tray. It also lowers the chance of fiber damage from repeated short strips.
Twelve Colors, Clear Order
The fibers follow the TIA-598 sequence of blue, orange, green, brown, slate, white, red, black, yellow, violet, rose, and aqua. That matches the color order inside a standard 12-fiber cable. Strand 1 goes to port 1, and the panel stays easy to document.
OM3 Performance Details
OM3 fiber has a 50 µm core and 2,000 MHz·km of effective modal bandwidth at 850 nm. It supports 10GBASE-SR to 300 meters and 40GBASE-SR4 to 100 meters. Cabled attenuation tops out at 3.5 dB/km at 850 nm under TIA-568.
SC/UPC Interface
Each SC connector uses a 2.5 mm ceramic ferrule and a square push-pull body. It meets the IEC 61754-4 and TIA FOCIS-3 interface standards. The UPC end face keeps cores in firm contact for low loss.
Wavelengths and Light Sources
OM3 is optimized for 850 nm VCSEL lasers, which power most short-reach multimode optics. Laser optimization comes from tight control of the fiber's index profile, verified by differential mode delay testing. The fiber also supports 1300 nm sources, where TIA-568 limits attenuation to 1.5 dB/km.
