This 3-meter simplex single-mode pigtail combines a factory-polished SC/UPC connector with an easy-strip semi-tight 0.9 mm buffer. The bend-insensitive G.657.A1 fiber handles tight routing inside splice trays and splices directly onto G.652.D backbone cable.
The longer 3 m length gives you plenty of slack to reach a splice tray deep in a rack-mount frame and loop back to the adapter panel. A yellow buffer marks the fiber as single-mode, and the material meets the OFNR riser fire rating. It's a reliable choice for rack-mount frames with deep splice drawers. The OFNR riser rating covers frames in telecom rooms and shafts.
Room to Route
Three meters of fiber covers the path from an adapter panel to a splice drawer, with spare length to store in the tray. That slack matters if a splice ever needs to be redone. You can cut back and re-splice without running out of fiber.
Semi-Tight Stripping
The semi-tight buffer leaves a gap around the coated fiber too small to see at 100x, with no gel or powder. At least 10 cm strips off in one cut. That gives you a clean, long length of bare fiber for cleaving, and less handling of the glass.
G.657.A1 Bend Insensitivity
Under ITU-T G.657.A1, the fiber supports a 10 mm minimum bend radius. Ten turns at a 15 mm radius add no more than 0.25 dB at 1550 nm. That tolerance keeps loss low inside compact trays and tight enclosures.
SC/UPC Connector
The connector has a 2.5 mm ceramic ferrule in a square push-pull housing. Its blue body signals a single-mode UPC polish. UPC suits most single-mode Ethernet and data links, where typical return loss sits around 50 dB.
Fusion or Mechanical Splice?
Fusion splicing melts the two fibers together and usually measures under 0.1 dB on single-mode. Mechanical splices align the fibers in a gel-filled sleeve. They're quick and need no splicer, but loss often runs higher. TIA-568 caps either type at 0.3 dB. For permanent backbone work, fusion is the better choice.
