Speed on Big Splicing Jobs
Data center builds often involve hundreds of OM4 splices. The semi-tight buffer strips 10 cm or more in a single cut, with no gel to clean. That saves time on every fiber and reduces handling of bare glass.
Laser-Optimized OM4 Glass
OM4 is engineered with a tightly controlled index profile. It's verified through differential mode delay testing, which gives it 4,700 MHz·km of effective modal bandwidth at 850 nm. That precision lets VCSEL-based optics run farther and faster than on OM3.
Upgrade Options Over Duplex Pairs
The same LC duplex pairs support 10GBASE-SR, 25GBASE-SR, and 40G BiDi. 100G SWDM4 optics reach about 100 meters over OM4. Terminating in LC today keeps these upgrades simple tomorrow.
Twelve Fibers, Six Pairs
The TIA-598 sequence runs blue, orange, green, brown, slate, white, red, black, yellow, violet, rose, and aqua. Pair neighbors in order to build six duplex circuits. Keep the same pairing at the far end for consistent polarity.
Managing Twelve Fibers in a Cassette
LC cassettes leave little room for slack. Coil spare fiber in the cassette's guides, keep each splice sleeve in its holder, and avoid crossing fibers over one another. Neat routing prevents microbends, which can quietly add loss over time.
